Trains disrupted at Basingstoke after death

British Transport Police say a person has died near Hook station

Train services between Basingstoke and Woking are being severely disrupted after a person died on the track near Hook station.

It's understood lines have now re-opened but trains are being delayed and cancelled.

British Transport Police told us "British Transport Police received a report shortly before midday today (18 March) to a casualty on the tracks near Hook Railway Station.

"Paramedics and Fire also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is being investigated but is not thought to be suspicious.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."

Trains were suspended for several hours but are now returning to normal.
