A Berkshire refugee organisation is celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a special fundraising event in Reading.

The refugee support group has been helping people since 1994 but has expanded in the last decade to cope with the growing numbers of people fleeing persecution and hardship.

A team of around twenty offers legal and practical support for asylum seekers many of whom have arrived here via Government resettlement schemes.

The event at the Old Town Hall in Reading on Fri 26 April will feature a conversation with Lord Alf Dubs. As one of the children saved by Sir Nicholas Winton’s Kindertransport, Lord Dubs understands the importance of offering sanctuary to those in need.

Nick Harborne, CEO of Refugee Support Group, said:

"Join us in celebrating this significant milestone in our charity. By attending our event, you can help us raise the funds towards supporting those who desperately need our assistance."

The celebrations will be led by refugees and features music by Limpopo Grove, theatre by Rank & File and much more.
