Campaigners are hoping they can make a last ditch challenge against plans to build a road tunnel near Stonehenge.

Last month Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site lost a High Court challenge against the project.

However, they have now raised over fifteen thousand pounds for an appeal.

John Adams, one of the three directors of the group, remains hopeful : “We have to trust in the law. We think we have got a case. Our legal team, who are experts in this field, think we have got a legal case. And we have to push on, we've been committed to this for years now... And perhaps we are reaching the endgame, but we know it will be decided in our favour. ”

Mr Adams says that support for their cause has come from all over the world.

National Highways say the tunnel will significantly reduce congestion on the A303 to the west of Andover.
