Young people in need of support are to be boosted by a special appeal which has been launched by a well-known charitable trust in west Berkshire.

The Greenham Trust is celebrating its 25th anniversary by contributing £250,000 in match funding to the fund, meaning it'll match incoming donations and grants, doubling the impact for young people.

The Appeal will benefit young people aged 11-25 who live in West Berkshire and parts of north Hampshire.

Head of Grants Louise James told us why they chose young people for the appeal:

"The mainstream youth provision has been relatively underfunded or an unlevelled picture for a longtime, young people in their adolescence particularly face a lot of barriers seen and unseen and we feel it's our duty and privilege to work with partner charities to deliver fantastic work to make sure young people can fulfil their potential."

This fund will support a range of needs including: Looked-after young people; those with disabilities and their families; supporting education progress e.g. literacy; helping young people into training and employment; mental health - counselling and therapy; anti-bullying projects including cyber safety, community youth groups such as Scouts and Brownies; sport and social activities, provision of diversionary activities and support; other projects helping young people to fulfil their potential.

Since 1997 the trust has provided more than £64 million for local people with more than 5000 local good causes benefitting.

The Trust uses its investment in Greenham Business Park and other property assets to generate surplus income. Charitable organisations apply for grants and fundraise via The Good Exchange, the Trust’s online crowdfunding platform for fundraisers and funders.
