Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted kidnap in Caversham.

At around 10.35pm on Wednesday, the victim, a woman in her twenties, was out running when she was followed by a black vehicle.

The woman was followed down Church Street, Prospect Street, and then Gosbrook Road.

The driver of the vehicle shouted at the victim before trying to get her into the car.

The offender is described as a white man, of very large build, in his late 20s or early 30s, and was wearing active leisure wear and a cap.

He was driving a dark-coloured, three-door Audi, with blacked-out windows.

Investigating officer, PC Stephen Johnson, based at Loddon Valley police station, said:

“This was witnessed by several people, including one person who intervened.

“We are appealing for witnesses to come forward, especially the woman who intervened and a taxi driver who was in the area at the time.

“I would also like to hear from anybody who was in the area and may have dash-cam footage to please contact us by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43220083586.

“Alternatively, for 100% anonymity, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
