Teenage girl attacked in Berkshire village

A gang of girls assaulted her on playing fields in Mortimer near Reading

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an incident of grievous bodily harm in Mortimer, West Berkshire.

At around 5.45pm on Saturday (24/2), the victim, a girl in her teens, was assaulted by a group of girls in the Mortimer playing fields opposite the Horse and Groom pub.

The girls kicked and punched the victim, and dragged her by her hair.

A car then arrived and a young female passenger wearing a white dressing gown got out of the car and attacked the victim before returning to the vehicle and leaving the scene.

The victim has sustained GBH-level injuries which required hospital treatment. They remain there at this time.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Izzy Denis, said:

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident or who has dash-cam or phone footage from the area around the time that it happened, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information about what happened can also make a report by calling 101 or via the website, quoting reference 43240088079.
