A permanent MRI scanner unit is to be built at Andover war memorial hospital.

A temporary mobile scanner has been in place for the past 18 months.

The new building will become part of the Andover community diagnostic centre.

Benefits

A spokesperson from Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said:

“Our Andover Community Diagnostic Centre (ACDC) is an important part of our continued investment in local services at Andover, and this new MRI unit is a further extension of the services we are able offer as part of this fantastic new facility. Whilst we have had a mobile MRI unit in place for the last 18 months, this new permanent build offers many more benefits to our patients and staff.

“The ACDC is already making such a difference in providing greater access to scans and tests for our local community, reducing the times patients are waiting, as well as ensuring a better all-round experience for all those using our imaging services. We are excited to see this progress continue.”
