Police investigating reports of a teenage girl being sexually assaulted in Basingstoke have issued an appeal to help identify this man.

Officers want to speak to the person pictured in connection with an incident in Alencon Link.

They have received reports of a man approaching the girl, making inappropriate comments and inappropriately touching her.

It happened in broad daylight, at around 10am on Friday 26th August.

Hampshire Police say investigations are ongoing and they hope members of the public may be able to help.

Anyone who recognises this man is being urged to contact the force, via 101.

In a statement, a force spokesperson said: "Can you help us identify this man? We want to speak to him in connection with a sexual assault in Alencon Link, which happened around 10am on Friday 26th August.

"It was reported the man approached a teenage girl, making inappropriate comments to her and inappropriately touching her.

"Investigations are ongoing into the incident and we hope the public may be able to assist.

"If you recognise the man in this photo, we want to hear from you.

"Anyone with information which will assist our enquiries should call 101, quoting the reference 44220348062.

"Alternatively you can submit information online by going to the Hampshire Police website.
