Wokingham Borough Council's decision making executive has approved plans to expand Farley Hill Primary School.

It will see the school grow from 1FE (forms of entry) to 2FE as of September 2022 allowing more local children to attend.

The school which moved to its new site in Arborfield Green earlier in the year has the capacity to have 3FE's if required.

Plans are also being made for the council to apply to the School Adjutactator to amend the admissions arrangements that are currently in place at Farley Hill.

It means families living in the Arborfield Green and Poperinghe Way developments would fall within the catchment area.

Restrictions set out by the Department for Education on catchment areas proved problematic for families living on or near the Arborfield Green development when applying for the 2021 intake.

Councillor Graham Howe, executive member for children’s services, said: “This is great news as it means that we can set the wheels in motion and provide clarity for children and families.

We have listened to concerns from families and are working hard to make sure all families in the Arborfield Green development and the Poperinghe Way development can have the opportunity for their children to attend the new Farley Hill Primary School.”
