The curator of a new exhibition looking at racial justice for staff and students at the university of Reading says it's time for action.

The exhibition showcases a newly launched journal which features poems, essays and reflections on the themes of race, equality and inclusion.

Anne-Marie Henderson - the university's director of student success and engagement - says she hopes people are moved to do something positive:

"whether that be reflecting on it personally so for example making sure you ask pronounce peoples names correctly, or at least asking them how to pronounce them correctly, or professionally making space for these conversations.

"I talk a lot about moving into action rather than just talking about it and I really think that;'s where we have to be right now.

“This collection was put together to encourage real action towards racial justice. Whatever our race, our role, we all have a responsibility to read, reflect and act on the work in this collection and ensure the University of Reading is truly inclusive, and that all of us can achieve our full potential, regardless of race, ethnicity or background.

“None of this could have happened without honest and equal collaboration and we thank every staff member and student who took part and made this collection and exhibition what it is.”

The exhibition is being held in the University Library, running until Thursday 24 Feb.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the University has also created a new Racial Equality page on their website
