A man has been jailed for more than three years for dealing drugs in Reading.

Elrazy Ahamed, aged 27, of Lorne Street, Reading, was sentenced to three years and four months’ imprisonment at Reading Crown Court.

Ahamed pleaded guilty to a count each of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, heroin and a further count of acquiring criminal property at the same court on 28 February.

The day before, on 27 February this year, police detained Ahamed for a search after he was seen approaching a white Vauxhall Mokka.

He was found in possession of 282 wraps of crack cocaine and 16 wraps of heroin in his tracksuit pocket, with a street value of around £6,000.

He was also in possession of two Apple iPhones, and arrested.

A search of his address located a fabric bag, which contained a further number of packages containing uncut crack cocaine, and a mint pot containing wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

Further street deals of cocaine were also discovered, along with two sets of digital scales.

The total value of the drugs seized was in the region of £44,470.

Large quantity

Investigating officer PC Liam Steele, based at Reading police station, said:

“A large quantity of class A drugs has been removed from circulation and a drug dealer sent to prison as a result of this investigation.

“We will continue to proactively target and prosecute offenders and our activity will be both visible and covert, aimed at disrupting and pursuing offenders involved in the supply of drugs.

“The information we receive from the public around drug supply is crucial in developing intelligence into a proactive investigation.

“We would ask anybody who has any information that can help us tackle drug dealers in our communities to please report this to the force.

“You can do so via our website or on 101, or for 100% anonymity, by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
