A man has been beaten up and robbed in west Reading.

Between 11pm and 11.30pm on Monday 19 July, a man was cycling along Links Drive in Tilehurst when a black Mercedes A-class car pulled up nearby.

A number of people got out of the car, one white man and around five black men, who started hitting the man with weapons. They then left in the car and on the man’s bicycle.

The victim sustained cuts to his head and shoulder and grazes on his arms. He received treatment at Royal Berkshire Hospital and has since been discharged.

His bicycle, mobile phone and watch were stolen.

A 19-year-old man from Tilehurst has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on bail.
