Teenager killed after car hits tree in Berkshire

A teenager has died following a crash near Ashampstead on Saturday afternoon (9 March).

Thames Valley Police say a red Volkswagen Polo was travelling eastwards on an unnamed road between Yattendon Road and Ashampstead Road when it left the carriageway and hit a tree.

The driver of the car, a man in his late teens, died at the scene.

The passenger, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Investigating officer PC Adam Price of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This is an extremely tragic incident where a man has sadly died.

“My thoughts and the thoughts of all of us at Thames Valley Police are with the family of the man who has died. They are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

“I am appealing to any motorists with dash-cams who were in the local area around the time of the incident to check footage in case they may have captured something that could help our investigation. You can submit footage to our dedicated online portal.
