Thames Valley Police officer remembers serving the Royals
She's been reflecting on her career, helping to serve at royal events
A Thames Valley Police officer has been reflecting on the many times she has served the Royal Family directly.
PC Tracey Pool has been sharing her memories, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II last week at the age of 96.
The Response Officer and Mounted Section Rider said:
“Having been with Thames Valley Police since 2008, I have been exceptionally fortunate to police some of the incredible events held within our region. From numerous Royal Ascot meets, Royal Weddings, The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, military escorts for the Household Cavalry and the funeral of HRH Prince Philip.
“In 2019, I led the Queen’s daily carriage procession at Royal Ascot, as I held responsibility for the Mounted Section deployment. As the largest annual sporting event in Europe, it was an incredible atmosphere and I will never forget the support of the well-wishers waving flags and cheering. Crowds of children and local residents lining the streets of the town centre and the cheers of the crowd from the enclosures is just incredible, all in support of our Royal Family.
“On a personal level, I am part of the Emergency Services Showjumping Team, who compete in The Queen’s Challenge Cup on my own horses at Royal Windsor Horse Show, I’ve been privileged enough to salute Her Majesty – such a pleasure and an honour.
“Whilst this is an extremely sad occasion, I feel immensely proud to be part of the commemoration in Windsor. It will be something I will remember forever.”
