Community projects in west Berkshire receive cash boost

The council has been sharing out £100k in funding for local infrastructure

Local community projects are to get a £100k boost following West Berkshire Council’s latest funding round for Ward Members.

The funding will enable improvements to key infrastructure such as village halls and community centres acknowledging the vital role they play in supporting communities.

Successful bids include £20k towards playground improvements in Thatcham and £5k towards a new roof on the popular bandstand in Victoria Park in Newbury

Lynne Doherty, Leader of West Berkshire Council and Chairman of the Panel says:

“As always, we were pleased to receive a really interesting and varied range of project bids from across the district. We’re delighted to be able to support so many of them and look forward to seeing the real benefits this funding brings to local people.”

Other schemes focused on energy efficiency in their improvements or necessary equipment for community groups such as the Scouts in Wash Common, the Girl Guides in Bucklebury and St Mary’s Church in East Ilsley.
