Man accused of possessing an air weapon without a certificate appears in court on assault charge

A man accused of possessing an air weapon without holding the appropriate certificate has appeared in court on an assault charge.
Peter Mosgrove, from Bonchester Bridge, has been charged with pushing a woman on the chest, causing her to fall.
The incident, involving a partner or ex-partner, is alleged to have happened at the Old Station Yard in Gordon last month.
The 49-year-old has also been charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, by shouting, swearing and breaking household items, in addition to the air weapon charge.

Mosgrove denied all three charges when he appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday), and the case was continued to trial on June 8th, with an intermediate diet on May 22nd.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old man has admitted possessing an imitation firearm, namely a Retay 9mm Blank Firing Pistol, in a public place - without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
Finlay Macgregor, of Bright Street, Hawick, committed the offence in the town's Commercial Road on June 18th, 2021.
Sentence was deferred at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today for a personal appearance. The case will recall on May 9th.
