Borders hunt: Court hears careless driver failed to slow down for horse and rider
A 52-year-old care worker who admitted a charge of careless driving following a near miss with a Borders hunt has been fined £250 and had three penalty points added to her licence.
Julie Glover was forced to mount a roadside verge after being unable to stop in time for a rider on his horse, who had been attempting to slow traffic to allow the dogs to cross safely.
The incident unfolded on the B6352 road near Kelso around 2.30pm on February the 11th last year.
Glover's lawyer, Liam Burke, today (Tuesday) told Jedburgh Sheriff Court: "It's a misjudgement, essentially."
But he added: "These individuals, in Ms Glover's view, seem to think they own the road."
In addition to the fine and penalty points, Glover - a first offender, with a clean driving licence - was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20.
