Another cannabis farm has been unearthed in the Borders.

The latest discovery was made at a property - believed to be a farm - near Paxton in Berwickshire.

Police attended shortly before 1am on Saturday (February 3rd).

And officers say enquiries are ongoing.

It's the latest in a series of illegal cultivations unearthed in our region in recent months.

Around 1,400 plants, valued at £1.2m, were found at a disused mill in Selkirk in November.

That was the third cannabis farm to be found in the Borders in two months.

Earlier in November, a cannabis cultivation believed to be worth around £500,000 was unearthed just six miles away at the former Warehouse nightclub in Overhaugh Street, Galashiels.

And, in October, more than 400 cannabis plants were seized by police, 11 miles away in the opposite direction, at the former Buccleuch Hotel in Trinity Street, Hawick.

In January this year, around 30 plants are understood to have been seized during a raid on a property in Berwick's Marygate.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police attended at a property near Paxton around 12.55am on Saturday, and a cannabis cultivation was discovered within. Enquiries are ongoing.”
