Two men have been arrested after police unearthed what's believed to be a cannabis farm in Hawick.

Officers swooped on a building in the town's Havelock Street area around 10.30am on Thursday.

It's the latest in a series of cultivations seized in the Borders in recent weeks, and comes seven months after plants valued at £500,000 were seized during a raid on the former Buccleuch Hotel in nearby Trinity Street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.30am on Thursday, May 9th, 2024 officers from Hawick CID executed a search warrant at an address in the Havelock Street area of Hawick.

“A quantity of drugs were recovered and two men aged 21 and 22 were arrested in connection with the search.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
