Eyemouth swimming pool is set to reopen this evening (Friday).

The leisure centre's been closed for almost five months for vital repairs - with some users travelling over the border to England for sessions.

Operator Live Borders used the time to upgrade its gym, which reopened this morning.

It marks the end of a difficult few months which also saw the closure of a number of other facilities, with Teviotdale Leisure Centre in Hawick fully reopening on Wednesday.

It was closed for most of last month for essential work - leaving some users with a 22-mile round-trip to Selkirk for sessions.

A spokesperson for Live Borders said: "We are delighted to advise that Eyemouth swimming pool will reopen today at 5.15pm.

"The first session will be lane swimming followed by a fun session in the main pool with diving board at 6.15pm. Booking is advised to avoid disappointment!

"All swimming lessons will be reinstated at the pool starting Monday, April 8th, and the Learn to Swim team are contacting all swimmers directly.

"The team at Eyemouth are delighted to welcome everyone back!

"Thank you to everyone for their support and understanding over this period."
