Girl, 13, charged after police called to 'disturbance' at Galashiels Academy

A 13-year-old girl has been charged after police were called to a report of a disturbance at Galashiels Academy.
The teenager is accused of committing a breach of the peace.
It follows an alleged incident at the Borders secondary school on March the 22nd.
The call out is included in the monthly update to the town's community council.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told Greatest Hits Radio: “A 13-year-old girl was charged with breach of the peace after officers were called to Elm Row in Galashiels on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023.”

Meanwhile, it's emerged, two house break-ins were reported in Galashiels in three days last month. The first took place in Hawthorn Road on March 24th, with another being reported in Church Street on March 26th.
Elsewhere, police have confirmed they're still appealing for information following a hit-and-run on the Melrose bypass, which left a 60-year-old woman fighting for her life in hospital.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw a dark-coloured SUV and a 4x4 at the time of the crash, around 9.50pm on Sunday, March 12th.

And, the police update also reveals a new scheme aimed at discouraging unwanted doorstep callers has been set-up in Eddleston.
The No Cold Calling Zone covers around 120 homes - with work ongoing to introduce similar in Bowden and Newtown St Boswells.
