A 29-year-old man who assaulted his neighbour in Galashiels has today (Tuesday) been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Corey Turner punched and headbutted the man during the attack in Forest Crescent on January 13th this year.

Selkirk Sheriff Court heard he had over-reacted to a trivial comment.

Sheriff Peter Paterson said the sentence is a direct alternative to custody.
