A 39-year-old man from the Borders found guilty of four rapes involving three different women is set to spend Christmas behind bars.

Aaron Swan - who gave an address in Jedburgh - committed the offences at various addresses in the region between 2013 and 2020.

Three of the attacks began while the women were asleep and incapable of giving or withholding consent.

Swan, who appeared via a video link at Edinburgh High Court today (Friday), was found guilty of a total of six charges following a trial.

He was also convicted of making threats of violence against one of his victims, seizing her by the neck and restricting her breathing, during a course of abuse between 2019 and 2021.

Swan, who has previous convictions for sexual offences in Scotland and England, was due to be sentenced today.

But, after consulting background reports, Lord Weir has ordered a full risk assessment which can lead to an order for lifelong restriction, stating that he may pose a continuing danger to the public.

The case will recall on March the 20th, and Swan was remanded in custody meantime.
