Man caught with indecent picture of girl in wallet placed on Sex Offenders Register

A 36-year-old man from the Scottish Borders caught with a Polaroid picture of a girl aged around 13 "in a state of undress" has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register. 

At Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday), Ricky Clift pled guilty to possessing an indecent image of a child at an address in Kelso between December 2022 and March last year.

Prosecutor India McLean revealed a relative raised the alarm.

She said, when quizzed by police, Clift accepted he had the photograph and that he'd kept it in his wallet.

Sentence has been deferred until next month for background reports.

The length of time Clift's name will remain on the Sex Offenders Register will be decided when the case recalls on May 20th.
