Motorists in the Borders are being warned of disruption ahead as slow moving convoys of wind farm traffic make their way through the region.

A truck carrying part of a turbine for Pines Burn wind farm, south of Hawick, left a transfer site near St Boswells this morning (Thursday).

Already traffic on the A68 has come to a standstill as a blade - measuring 64.8 metres long - that's about the width of a football pitch - sets off on its journey.

It will travel over the back road to Selkirk, down the A7 to Hawick, and then on to its final destination.

The deliveries were halted last month after we heard stories of carers struggling to get to their clients because of the huge queues of traffic.

Today's journey is expected to take more than seven hours to complete by developers EnergieKontor have pledged to minimise disruption.
