Police have named a 55-year-old woman who died following a single car crash in the Scottish Borders.

Sandra Fellowes, from the Kelso area, was driving a silver Kia Picanto on the B6404 east of St Boswells when tragedy struck, around 3.20pm last Friday, May 19th.

Emergency services raced to the scene and she was taken to Borders General Hospital by ambulance but later died.

The road was closed between the Scott's View and Smailholm turn-offs for more than six hours while the area was made safe, and the wreckage was cleared.

In a statement, her family said: "Sandra will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. The family thank all for the support they have received and request privacy at this time.”

Officers say Sandra was the sole occupant of the car, which was the only vehicle involved.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick, from Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts remain with Sandra’s family and friends at this difficult time."
