Car stolen during Selkirk break-in found in Hawick

A blue Toyota Yaris and a three-figure sum of cash have been stolen during a break-in at a house in Selkirk.

Thieves targeted the property in the town's Hillside Terrace some time between 2am and 3am this morning (Saturday, May 4th),

The vehicle was later recovered 11 miles away, at Hillend Drive in Hawick.

Police are appealing for information.

Detective Constable Liam Myers, from Police Scotland, said: “We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of Saturday morning to please get in touch.

“We would particularly like to speak to people with private CCTV or dash-cam footage of the surrounding area who may have captured the stolen car or anything else of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0898 of Saturday, May 4th, 2024.”
