Former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg appears at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to face stalking charge

Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court this morning (Tuesday) to face a charge of stalking.
The 31-year-old is also accused of engaging in a course of behaviour which was abusive of his partner or former partner, and failing to comply with a court undertaking.
The offences are alleged to have been committed at addresses in Hawick, Exeter and elsewhere between 2017 and March this year.
Hogg pled not guilty to all three charges in front of Sheriff Derek O’Carroll.
And the case was continued to trial on July the 30th, with preliminary hearings on July 15th and June 28th.
According to court papers, Hogg is accused of engaging in a course of conduct which caused the woman - who we're not naming - fear and alarm, in that he did: repeatedly shout, swear and act in an aggressive manner; repeatedly accuse her of infidelity; repeatedly track her movements; monitor her communication with others; and repeatedly attempt to control family life.
The offence is alleged to have been committed at addresses in Bearsden, Glasgow; Hawick and elsewhere between January 1st, 2017 and March 31st, 2019.
Hogg has also been charged with sending messages threatening to harm himself as part of a course of behaviour which was abusive of his partner or former partner, at addresses in Hawick; Ottery St Mary, near Exeter; and elsewhere, between April 1st, 2019 and March 30th, 2024 - contrary to the Domestic Abuse Scotland Act; as well as breaching a court order not to contact her.
Hogg - who appeared in the dock in a suit, with swept back hair, and spoke only to confirm his name - was released on bail and banned from contacting the woman named in the charges meantime.
He left court via a side entrance normally reserved for officials, under a jacket, in the back seat of a car.
