The Met Office has issued two weather warnings for snow and ice covering large parts of the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

And locals are being urged to be prepared.

The first is in place from 5pm today (Tuesday) until 11am tomorrow - with up to 3cm of snow possible away from the coast.

Scottish Borders Council is also warning of the risk of ice forming on untreated surfaces.

A second warning follows from 5pm on Wednesday until 11am on Thursday, with a further 5cm of snow forecast to fall on higher ground.

Motorists have already had to contend with freezing conditions this morning, with a lorry carrying logs shedding its load on the A697 road south of Greenlaw. The road has since reopened.
