A new exhibition at Ely Cathedral depicting "real people" has attracted over 1000 visitors in its opening weekend according to visitors.

The 'Am I My Brother's Keeper?' has been created by British artist and sculptor Sean Henry, and curated by Visual Arts Advisor Jacquiline Creswell.

It includes 25 hand painted terracotta and bronze figures, which will populate the vacant plinths, tombs and niches situated throughout this ancient medieval Cathedral.

The life like figures are of varying size from 38cm up to 3m in height, depicting people with a variety of emotion.

The Cathedral says its aimed at prompting 'reflection on the extent to which individuals may support each other and can be interpreted as an enquiry into one’s moral responsibility toward others.'

The exhibition opened on April 26th and runs until September 1st.

It will be formally opened by The Rt Hon Lucy Frazer KC MP, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in May.
