JCB used to smash wall in ram raid in Soham

It's the latest in a string of ram raids across Cambridgeshire

Police are currently at the scene of a ram raid in Hall Street in Soham after a JCB was sued to smash into the front of a shop.

A member of the public called in just after 2am reporting a group of people were targeting the Londis store.

They left with an ATM on a flatbed van which has since been recovered.

Officers remain in the area this morning and a scene is in place to preserve evidence as investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting reference 35/85145/23.

Police have offered this advice to help stop ram raids:

  • Report If you notice someone paying too much attention to an ATM.
  • Report if you see people tampering with number plates.
  • Report If you notice someone unauthorised attaching ‘Out of order’ notices to an ATM.
  • Report any high-performing cars parked for numerous days that don’t usually appear in the area.
