Cash for Kids and their Local Executive Board granted over £4,000, supporting over 6,000 local children in their Autumn Grant Round.

Bradford Hospitals Charity - £500 – 6,000 Children

The charity support children and their families who are in-patients at the hospital. They find that a lot of the children use their activity room, but the toys and equipment can become worn and tatty quite quickly, because they are used so much. They identified that the children love role-play and applied to Cash for Kids for a play kitchen

Boy A* Aged 2 - £529

Boy A is a lively energetic child with a passion for animals, birds and all things nature. He battles daily against a body that requires a lot of medication to keep functioning. He had a twisted stomach from birth, and due to his complex medical history he developed a feeding aversion. This requires a feeding tube to meet his nutritional needs, during the day and overnight. His parents want to ensure that he receives real nutritional food through his feeding tube, but to blend food to the correct consistency they require a specialist blender. Cash for Kids supported Boy A’s parent request and will purchase a Vitamix Blender and Bowls starter kit

Girl A* Aged 5 - £1,528

Girl A was born premature and suffers from hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy. She requires constant supervision due to lack of muscle control. She can't stand or walk independently because of stiffness and poor muscle control. She loves the sense of speed and loves all the means of transport, especially trains. Her parents applied to Cash for Kids for a specialist trike. By having a trike she would gain confidence, feel independent and enjoy thrill of riding like other healthy children. It would be beneficial for socialising and self-esteem, and will tone her muscles to help her to improve control of her body and give a chance for future independent walking.

Leeds Baby Bank - £1,820 – 100 Children

Leeds Baby Bank identified there was gap in the support offered to families with younger children when they were using food banks. Leeds Baby Bank focus on helping families in-need with children 0-5yrs. They provide food, nappies, clothing, bedding, and equipment such as Moses baskets, cots, prams, high chairs. The vulnerable children they support have not chosen to be in their situation. Some children live in poverty with no bed, clothing or food, other children have left all their belongings behind as their fleeing the family home as a result of domestic violence. Cash for Kids agreed to fund 80 cot beds & mattresses and £600 worth of nappies

The Square Chapel Trust - £570 – 30 Children

Based in the heart of Halifax, Square Chapel is an arts centre and community hub who believe that arts, culture and creativity play a positive and critical role in enriching the quality of life for people from all backgrounds and of all ages. Square Chapel is central to the community and cultural life of the area; a hub for culture, community, creativity and education. They deliver activities that transform lives, challenge social exclusion and provide opportunities for traditionally ‘hard to reach’ groups. They applied to Cash for Kids for funding to support their choir. Cash for Kids agreed to fund brand-new uniform for all of the choir
