A property fire that closed a stretch of the main road into St Ives is believed to be arson.

Crews rushed to reports of a burning building in Carbis Bay first thing on Tuesday morning.

It shut the A3074 in both directions, between the junctions for Porthrepta Road and Higher Tregenna, however the road has since reopened.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

"Firefighters are still on scene checking for any hot spots.

"Arson is suspected as the cause and the police are on scene".

Police have confirmed that no one has been injured and they are appealing for witnesses.
