Cornwall Airport Newquay has launched two schemes to make the experience more accessible and inclusive.

They include a 'sunflower lanyard program' for those with hidden disabilities and an 'Ambulift' - which helps boarding for passengers with reduced mobility.

They say it's part of their commitment to make peoples' journeys as comfortable as possible.

The scheme are marked as being 'important milestones' in the airport’s ongoing commitment to creating a more accessible environment.

The 'Ambulift' is described as being 'a specialised vehicle designed to provide safe and comfortable boarding and disembarking for passengers with reduced mobility'.

Its introduction make sure passengers who require assistance via the new vehicle receive a seamless and dignified travel experience.

Cornwall Airport Newquay is also supporting the Sunflower Scheme, which was launched by a charity that raises awareness and provides support for individuals with hidden disabilities.

As part of this partnership, the Sunflower Lanyard Program has been launched, which discreetly identifies passengers with hidden disabilities, allowing them to receive the support they need.

Extra support could include extra time to navigate the airport or assistance with check-in and security screening.

Kelly Jones, Passenger & Customer Services Manager at Cornwall Airport Newquay, said: “We are committed to making travel accessible to all our customers and understand that for some people, travelling through an airport can be a stressful experience.

"We are proud to support the Sunflower Scheme and offer our passengers the additional support they may need to make their journey as comfortable as possible.”
