Three people have been taken to hospital following reports of debris falling from a building in Newquay.

Fore Street is currently closed and police say it will be shut for the foreseeable future.

Devon & Cornwall Police tweeted: "Emergency services are currently responding to reports of falling debris at a property in Fore Street, Newquay.

"Three people have gone to hospital with injuries - not life-threatening or changing.

"The road will be closed for the foreseeable future - please avoid the area".

The incident comes after flash-flooding was reported in the town earlier, with water pictured streaming down Marcus Hill towards the Killacourt after just 10 minutes of rain.

Thunderstorm warnings remain in force for the rest of the day (Tuesday 16th) and a warning for Wednesday 17 August has been extended to last from 00:00am to 23.59pm.

The Met Office has urged drivers to take extra care, with the risk of disruption from lightning strikes and heavy rain.
