Female pedestrian has 'critical injuries' after collision with car in Hayle

Police have confirmed a 19-year-old woman was airlifted to Derriford with injuries described as critical

Police have confirmed a 19-year-old woman has suffered serious injuries following a collision with a car on the main road through Hayle.

The female pedestrian from Redruth was airlifted to Derriford Hospital following the incident on Fore Street.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, closing the road well into the evening.

Devon & Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw what happened just before 4pm or anyone who has dashcam footage to come forward.

In a statement updated statement released on Thursday morning, the force said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Hayle.

"At approximately 3:50pm on Wednesday 17th November, a collision occurred on Fore Street, Hayle between a Land Rover Discovery and a 19-year-old woman from Redruth.

"As a result of the collision, the female pedestrian was conveyed to Derriford hospital with critical injuries.

"Local officers as well as officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the scene and the road was closed for several hours whilst a forensic examination of the collision scene was conducted.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team who attended are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or have dash camera footage to contact police on 101@dc.police.uk, quoting the log number 526 of 17 November".
