Firefighters from four stations across west Cornwall have spent the night battling a house fire on the edge of Redruth.

The blaze broke out at Treskerby in the early hours of Wednesday morning (16th June).

Crews from Tolvaddon arrived to find the home filled with smoke.

They called in back-up from Falmouth, Perranporth, and St Just at around 2.30am, along with a the Red Cross Emergency Response vehicle.

Luckily, everyone managed to leave the property after being alerted by their smoke alarm.

One local resident said: "I was woken up in the middle of the night by blue flashing lights. We couldn't work out what was going on at first - and then we saw billowing smoke.

"We had our windows open, because it's been so hot, but the wind must have been in the other direction because there was no smell of smoke.

"They were there for hours - with new fire trucks arriving all the time.

"Thank goodness they got it all under control and everyone is OK".
