Firefighters rescue a 12-year-old girl thrown from her horse in Cornwall

Firefighters have rushed to the rescue of a 12-year-old girl who was thrown from her horse in south-east Cornwall.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service says the youngster suffered a dislocated knee near Liskeard.

She had landed in a muddy, boggy valley at Great Trethew near Menheniot.

Crews from Liskeard and Looe, and specialist paramedics and rescue teams were scrambled on Wednesday evening.

"Fire Service Crew from Liskeard and Looe Fire Stations assisted ambulance with this incident.

"It involved a 12-year-old female who had been thrown from her horse and suffered a dislocated knee.

"The crews assisted HEMS paramedics and liaised with the HART team for the safe extrication of the casualty from a muddy, boggy valley".
