The Environment Agency says the heavy rainfall could trigger flooding around low lying land and roads.

People in at-risk areas are being urged to take extra care.

It comes as a yellow weather warning for rain is extended to cover more of north Cornwall.

The alert from the Met Office now covers areas from Launceston down to Bodmin.

It came into fore at 1pm on Friday and will last through until 8pm on Saturday night.

"Flooding is possible overnight tonight Friday 19 February and into Saturday morning. Persistent rain is forecast to continue through the remainder of today and into Saturday. Some of this rain could be heavy, especially over high ground where very large totals are possible.

"This may result in flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river tonight Friday 19 February and into Saturday morning. Further prolonged rainfall is forecast on Saturday before dying away later in the day. We expect river levels to remain high throughout this period, though no flooding to properties is currently expected.

"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages."
