Cornwall rower Helen Glover is through to final of women's pairs at Olympics

The 35-year-old and partner Polly Swann came second in their semi-final race in Tokyo

Cornwall's Helen Glover is one step closer to what is being described as the mother of all comebacks at the Olympics.

The Penzance rower and partner Polly Swann are through to the final of the women's pairs, after finishing second in the semis.

She is the first mum to row for Team GB at an Olympic games.

Her husband, Steve Backshall, tweeted to joke he had no fingernails left after a down-to-the-wire race!

Steve Backshall posted: "They're through! A commanding performance rowing through whitecaps in what looked like the Southern Ocean.

"And I have no fingernails left..."

Steve recently took the couple's children to visit the postbox, painted gold in Helen's honour.
