Falmouth's HUGE street party to celebrate Queen's Platinum Jubilee
Organisers have told us that 800 people signed up to attend!
A massive street party has been held in Falmouth, bringing Cornish people together to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The third day of celebrations saw hundreds of children and families eating picnics on a long table which took up Market Street, each wearing Jubilee crowns and waving flags.
The event happened from 1pm to 4pm and is one of over 80 events to be staged in the Duchy over the long bank holiday weekend.
Grace, 6, and Ariel, 5, said: "We're here to celebrate the Queen for being a Queen for a long time. It's really fun".
Bryher, 6, said: "I like it here because everyone's here and we're having a street party and it's really good. My little brother likes it.
Jessica and Isabella, 8, said: "It's been great with all the juggling and all the soldiers. How they've put it all in to a big celebration".
Partnered with Rowes bakery, those attending were offered free soft drinks and pasties with other families bringing picnics of their own to enjoy on long tables.
The event included entertainment walking through the streets and a choir group who performed at the beginning of the party.
Paul, from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire is in Cornwall for the week and attended the event with his family.
He said: "It's absolutely incredible, I cannot believe how busy it is here, how many people there are, a real sense of community. There's a real feel of energy here. It's just the best".
Richard Gates, Falmouth Town manager said: "It was on a blustery, changeable day. There's been various activities of the last few days, we have 600 paper crowns, you can colour them, we've got flags we're giving out. We've got street performers, a choir.
"The Platinum, you're not going to have a Platinum jubilee often if ever. We want everyone to come out and support it".
