Multiple firefighters battle large house fire in north Cornwall through the night

A large house fire in the Polzeath area of north Cornwall has been burning through the night.

The blaze broke out just after 7pm on Friday evening and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received multiple 999 calls.

A tweet from Wadebridge Community Fire Station confirmed crews from across the Duchy were at the scene at Dunders Hill, Trebetherick.

Video footage online shows smoke and flames streaming from the roof of the property.

However there are no reports of any injuries and in the early hours of Saturday, Cornwall Fire and Rescue said crews were making steady progress.

Shortly before 7am they added that the incident was now bring scaled back.

In a short statement sent just after 3am on Saturday 22nd January, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 1907 Critical Control received multiple calls stating there was a residential property fire in Polzeath area.

"Crews from the county are still in attendance at the incident and are making steady progress.

"Main jets and and hose reel jets are in still use. Updates will be posted as soon as we receive them".

Shortly before 7am they added: "Good progress is been made. The incident will be downscaling at 0700 to two major pumping appliances".

The latest update reads: "Good progress is being made and the incident is now starting to be downscaled".
