Large fire tears through house in picturesque village in north Cornwall

The blaze engulfed the roof space and first floor of a semi-detached home in Rock

A large fire has torn through a home at a picturesque village in north Cornwall.

Firefighters received multiple calls to a semi-detached house in Rock.

They arrived to find the roof space and first floor well alight.

Crews from Wadebridge and Bodmin got the initial call just before 7pm on Sunday evening (31st May).

They called in back-up from Delabole, St Austell and Saltash, alongside an environmental support vehicle.

A photo shows the top part of the property has been completely gutted, however there are no reports of any casualties.

Wadebridge Community Fire Station tweeted the photo: "Crews from @WadebridgeCFRS, @BodminCFRS, @DelaboleCFRS, @StAustellCFRS and @SaltashCFRS, along with two flexi-duty officers, responded to a well developed property fire in #Rock this evening. A fire investigation is due to take place tomorrow".

The latest statement from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service reads: "Crews from Wadebridge and Bodmin along with a flexi-duty officer responded to a property fire in Rock.

"Due to the number of calls a third pump was also mobilised from Delabole.

"On arrival the crews found one property to be well alight and the incident commander requested an additional appliance and operational support vehicle to be mobilised. These came from Bodmin and St Austell respectively.

"Crews are dealing with a semi detached property where the first floor and roof space is well alight.

"Update 19:45: The environmental support vehicle has been requested to attend. This has been mobilised alongside a support pump from Saltash".

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

There have been no further updates from Cornwall Fire and Rescue, however an investigation is due to take place this morning (Tuesday 1st June).

Devon & Cornwall Police are understood to have attended the scene and the force has been contacted for more information.
