It is believed a missing young man from Dorset may have travelled to St Ives area of Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police have shared an appeal after Mark Smith failed to turn up to work on Monday.

Officers say the 33-year-old has not been in touch with family or friends since Sunday evening, describing that as "out of character".

Mark, from Portland, is described as around 5ft 10, slims and with mousey brown hair and tattoos on his arms.

Dorset Police have issued an appeal directly to Mark to get in contact and are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact them on 101.

In a statement, Chief Inspector Jamie Clark of Dorset Police said: "Mark has not been in contact with family or friends since the evening of Sunday 2nd January 2022 and this is out of character for him.

"We believe he may have travelled to the St Ives area of Cornwall and would urge anyone with information as to his whereabouts to please get in touch.

"Finally, if you see this appeal Mark, please make contact with us or your family as we all just want to ensure you are safe and well".

Dorset Police renewed their appeal on Thursday 6th January, releasing fresh images of Mark and confirming he also has links to Somerset and Wales.

Inspector David Parr of Dorset Police said: "It is out of character for Mark not to make contact with family or friends for a number of days and we are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries in a bid to locate him.

"I want to renew our appeal for anyone with information relating to his whereabouts to please come forward and we are issuing new images of Mark in the hope that someone might have seen him since the afternoon of Monday 3rd January 2022.
