Crews from across west Cornwall have been battling a huge house fire through the night.

The blaze is understood to have engulfed a detached three-storey property at Ruan Minor on the Lizard Peninsula.

Teams from Mullion, Helston and a wholetime officer received the initial call late on Saturday night and arrived to find a 10m x 10m building well alight.

They subsequently called in back-up from St Keverne, Falmouth and Tolvaddon.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews were fighting the flames externally using multiple jets.

Reports on social media suggest no-one has been injured but the home has been completely gutted.

Shortly after 1am, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "The first call for this incident was received at 23:32 and firefighters from Mullion and Helston, along with a wholetime officer, were mobilised to the incident.

"On arrival, crews made 'Pumps 5'. St Keverne, Falmouth and Tolvaddon were mobilised, along with a further officer.

"Firefighters on scene confirmed one detached, three-storey domestic property (10M by 10M) alight.

"Four breathing apparatus and three main jets are in use, all external firefighting".
