Following England's heart-breaking loss at last night's Euro 2020 final, now is a time to reflect and move forward.

Gareth Southgate has taken responsibility for his team's defeat against Italy which saw them lose 3-2 on penalties at Wembley.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all missed penalties.

Jon Rhodes is a sports psychologist from the University of Plymouth and told us it's all about resilience:

"Unfortunately you have to graze your knees a few times and have those war wounds almost to become resilient, so I think that in a way those young players are going to become a lot more hardy after this experience"

He also added that the pressure of the penalty shoot out will have been massive for Jordan Pickford:

"I think it's one of the trickiest jobs to have is to try and guess where the ball is going to go and then try to save it as well being pelted at you. So again he has been a real success story for the tournament and actually for the last few years he's been developing and becoming a lot more resilient, a lot more gritty and passionate as we can see."

Jon said although the team will be disappointed, but they have worked so hard and shown both pride and dedication towards being part of the England team.

Following the defeat a number of offensive and racist social media posts went up aimed at England footballers.

Twitter says it's removed over 1-thousand posts and permanently suspended users.
