Police negotiators have had to be called to an incident in Redruth after a man barricaded himself in a property and refused to leave.

Officers first got the shout to Troon, near Camborne, in connection with a domestic incident and concerns for people's welfare.

One man was arrested, then later de-arrested, and another man fled the scene.

He was found at an address in the Redruth area and a number of police units were called.

The man later left of his own accord and was taken to hospital with superficial wounds to his hands.

Police say a man in his thirties was arrested and is waiting to be questioned.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police attended a property within the Grenville Gardens area of Troon, near Camborne yesterday afternoon (Monday 25 January) in connection to a domestic incident and following concerns for the welfare of those within the property.

"One male was initially arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace but has since been de-arrested.

"Another male left the area on foot and was located at an address in Forth Scol having barricaded himself within the property and refused to leave.

"A number of police units attended the scene including police negotiators, working to bring this matter to a peaceful conclusion.

"At around 8pm, and following work with police negotiators, the man left the property on his own accord.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment on superficial hand wounds.

"A man in his 30’s has been taken into police custody on suspicion of assault and awaits questioning."
