Police have told visitors not to come to Cornwall and Devon during the school holidays.

Our force has posted an appeal on social media, urging people to stay local this half-term.

Officers say we need to reduce the pressure on our roads and NHS as they work to keep communities Covid-safe.

It comes just days after three people were fined for travelling over 160 miles from Somerset to Land's End.

The trio apparently told Penzance Police they wanted to look at the cliffs in wet weather.

Posting on Twitter, Devon and Cornwall Police said "visit Devon and Cornwall another time".

"Please stay local at half term, Devon and Cornwall will welcome you back soon.

"Officers are working hard to keep communities safe from #COVID19.

"We need to reduce pressure on our roads, on the NHS & prevent the spread of the virus.
