It has been confirmed that both pipes have now been repaired following a burst water main in mid-Cornwall.

Many in the TR1 to TR16 postcodes were left without water overnight, and with discolouration or low pressure through Tuesday.

South West Water says the damage was caused by a third party contractor.

Two water collection points were set up in St Agnes and Carnon Downs for vulnerable customers.

We're told the discolouration may still last for while, but that it's nothing to worry about.

In an updated statement, South West Water said: "Following damage to our strategic water main yesterday evening, by a third-party contractor working in the area, our first priority was to deploy our skilled teams to fix the issue for customers to do everything we could to restore supplies. They have worked hard throughout the night and early morning to repair the damage and restore water supplies.

"Despite working in difficult conditions, our teams did repair the first main around midnight and many customers across the affected area, saw supplies begin to return through the night.

"We’re are pleased to confirm the repair on the second main has been completed.

"We still have our 2 two water collection points in St Agnes at the local carpark at TR5 0TP and Carnon Downs village hall at TR3 6GH available for anyone who wishes to collect water. Our teams from across the business have been handing out these water supplies to vulnerable customers.

"You may experience some discolouration for a while - It is nothing to worry about. We understand that customers may not want to drink it, but if they do, it won’t cause any harm. This is normal and will subside as supplies are reintroduced.

"We want to thank customers for their patience and all of our teams who have worked hard to fix this unforeseen problem caused by a third party."
