Today (5 March) marks St Piran's Day, the national day of Cornwall.

The day is named after one of the patron saints of Cornwall, Saint Piran, who is also the patron saint of tin miners.

There's been plenty going on in the lead up to the annual event, with celebrations taking place across the Duchy today - including in Bodmin, Penzance, Falmouth and many more.

Richard Wilcox is the BID Manager in Falmouth: "We've got schools and different organisations taking part, working with us as a town team.

"The smiles on the children's faces as they're walking through it really sets the tone so well for the rest of the day. It's one of those lovely events to be involved in.

"It's so important in terms of identity. St David's Day for me recently being a Welshman is important for Wales, so it's that sense of identity that brings people together. There's an understanding around your heritage and celebrating your culture, your history, where you come from and where you're going."
